In connection with this elaborately planned, annual organisation of the in- ternationally famous Hahnenkamm race, you, as the “host” of the Streif, play a very crucial and influential role. Both the wonderful land and sites where the spectacle of the annual Streif ski run on the hill takes place, and the renowned and very popular Hotel Rasumushof, are owned by your family. To what extent are you personally in- volved these days in the planning, orga- nisation and execution of the annual Hahnenkamm race and what does your work in this field include? The location of the Hahnenkamm race came into my possession via a chain, through my grandfather and father.The race itself developed quickly to become something special after the war and thanks to the former president of the Kitzbuehel Ski Club, Kurt Beranek, it soon became a topic of TV reports. The sporting procedure was always excel- lent. The framework, however, did not live up to this in the slightest.Vehicles of all kind used the target site and land beyond mine to park. There was ramp- ant advertising of all kinds, for the most peculiar objects, including alcohol. No possibility of providing for the audience, in any area whatever, including toilets, so that order in the audience area was lost. I never touched the sporting part of the Hahnenkamm. However, be it from my own stimulus, or as a result of the nec- essary measures to limit access for ve- hicles, pushing through the exclusivity of advertising to a few big companies, creating the infrastructure to provide for the audience and influencing the appropriate construction of all the fixtures for the stands – all this was initiated by me. This also includes the fact that I didn’t make anything I owned in town available for advertising. Eine Urlaubsregion entwickelt sich.
