Dis- tinctively and unforgettably, it reflects Joseph Krug’s vision; creating the inimitable prestige cuvee every year, regardless of weather conditions. Krug Grande Cuvée stands for generosity, ab- undance of nuances and perfection; a cuvee made of around 120 kinds of wine of ten different vintages. These wines are from the impressive repertoire of Krug’s wine reserves in which some have been stored for up to 15 years. Krug Grande Cuvée receives its typical elegance and the fine pearls after another six years of maturing in Krug’s cellars. The New: Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2000 The Krug Clos d’Ambonnay underlines the inten- sity of a very special Pinot Noir. The valuable grapes for this extraordinary cham- pagne come from a walled garden of 0.68 hectares in the heart of the village of Ambonnay. Cham- pagne from this location only comes into being if the year has contributed to the highest quality of this plot. Krug’s Clos d’Ambonnay 2000 is only the third creation from this unbelievable plot. Time is Krug Clos d’Ambonnay’s loyal companion; the unique champagnes have matured for not less than 15 years in the cellars in Reims and rejoice in a nearly endless storage potential. Every bottle of Krug Clos d’Ambonnay is individually numbered, raising the value for collectors immensely. In 2000, the Clos d’Ambonnay vineyard only produced grapes for 5,158 bottles. advertisement “Our culture is influenced by all our anecdotes and stories; they arouse our senses and hearts. They lead us to our goals and to the things we want to create; hand-made, exquisite champagne which touches people in their hearts. Not for its technical skills, but for the feelings it triggers in us.” Oliver Krug, 6th generation in direct line of the Krug Family Austria was the first country to degust the new vintage outside of the Krug cellar. Business De- velopment Director of the House, Jessica Julmy, presented the rarity to selected guests as part of the opening of Krug’s pop-up restaurant in Lech at the Arlberg in April. Expand your Krug Experience Since 2012, the Krug ID has been a special code on the back label of the bottle to identify each Krug champagne. It offers access to all crucial infor- mation about every singly quality, such as the composition of the varietal, the number of blended vintages, the basic vintage, the latest and the oldest vintage and so on. The first figure describes the quarter, and the next two, the year in which the bottle left Krug’s cellar to be finally corked up. With the last three figures the Krug team identifies more details about every single bottle. Since 1999, the Krug House has been part of the Moët Hennessy Wine & Spirits-Division of LVMH, the largest luxury goods concern worldwide. The portfolio of Moët Hennessy Austria also includes the brands of Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot, Hennessy and Glenmorangie. Time and Patience For Krug, time is not an obstacle. It means power. Time is on Krug’s side with every step of creating this champagne – from the winemaking to the long-matured cuvees of Krug. Time is one of Krug’s strengths.
