Living Moments - N°2 Edition 2014
7TaTYR 8ZXPY_^ Edition 2 · 2014 48 Twelve years of “Snow Polo Kitzbühel” warrant a small review behind the scenes of this event. The organisational challenges were extraordinarily high in the month of January 2007, 2011 and 2014, with so little snow. In the past twelve tournaments we have already overcome all the weather conditions one could think of. In January of 2007, for example, we were on the compound with nearly spring-like tempera- tures. Back then, this was a new situation for us. Beste Speisen und Getränke und ein außergewöhnliches Rahmenprogramm Excellent food and beverages, as well as extraordinary fringe events We found a green, uneven and soaked meadow, which made it impossible for the Polo tourna- ment to take place. The solution was to heap the whole place up with sawdust (“snow of trees”). Even “Kyrill”, the exceptional winter night storm, in that year, didn’t manage to blow down the equestrian tents and so jeopardise the event. After the“rain event”in 2011 it was scarcely imagin- able that we had experienced completely different extreme situations only a few years before, where, among other things, we had to manage metre- high snow masses. Luckily, however, the tourna- ments were for the most part characterised by glorious weather and the best snow polo condi- tions which, along with the incomparable Tyro- lean atmosphere, signific-antly contributed to the fact that we were, in the end, able to make this event a special brand among all of the snow polo tournaments. Sporting highlights on the polo ground, the best conditions for players, guests and sponsors, an impressive landscape of tents, excellent food and beverages, as well as extraordinary fringe events, have perhaps been – along with the popular Kitz- buehel charm – guarantors for the enjoyable ex- pansion of this event.
