Living Moments - N°2 Edition 2014

10 7TaTYR 8ZXPY_^ Edition 2 · 2014 connected with each other. If you have a feeling for shapes, it universally over- laps with many aesthetic areas of life. When I see salty pastries dangle on the entrance door I already know how the people living behind that door think. Show me how you live, and I will tell you who you are. You own houses in Berlin and in Mallor- ca. Do you furnish every room accord- ing to a strict plan? Let’s put it this way: I don’t own anything that doesn’t make sense in my life, I don’t hoard special waste. There is nothing that I see thinking ‘hurray, I will take that with me’. But every piece is consciously put in its place. I know exactly why the picture is there and where I bought it. These are things that belong to me. Do both of your residences differ in style? It is a great luxury for me to be able to immerse myself in two different worlds. The looks change depending on the season – for that I have winter and summer decoration, even for my house in Mallorca. If the season changes, I put up different curtains or use different porcelain. Along with a few antiques and art deco, empire pieces and a little bit of Biedermeier – that I like as well. I have already collected Wiener Werk- staette silver and things like that, just because I knew that such basic equip- ment will last forever. Which item of furniture has accompa- nied you throughout your life? My parents gave me a beautiful Bieder- meier secretaire at the age of 13. At that time a field was turned into building land and they wanted to share the profit with their children. And then one time, I was walking through town with my mother and there was a shop where I discovered this Biedermeier secretaire. To be given something so precious as a teenager was overwhelming for me. I also have the chair where I learned to write, it has been upholstered 15 times already. It is a small Louis Quinze chair; my father once altered it because other- wise I wouldn’t have been able to get to the secretaire.Today, it is in my bedroom. There’s a lot going on with your career at the moment: You will be in the next ‘Das Supertalent’ series again (German version of Britain’s Got Talent) as a ju- ror, and your first book, ‘Anziehungs- kraft’ has been in the top rankings of the bestseller list for months. What’s next? Your own living collection? Yes, I don’t have much time at the moment. But when I think about it, the first design for a sofa comes into my mind. I have already designed furniture for hotels. It was only yesterday, that I had a sauna built into our home which I myself designed. I had tables and lamps made according to my designs. That’s why I’m sure I will do something in this respect. For myself I can say:I like fashion, I like interior design and I like writing. Writing is my latest passion. I think people who like to talk can write as well. At least that’s what my mother says. Dear Guido, thank you very much for this conversation. “There is nothing that I see thinking ‘hurray, I will take that with me’. But every piece is consciously put in its place.” Es gibt nichts, was ich sehe und denke »Hurra, das nehm' ich mal mit«. Sondern jedes Teil steht ganz bewusst am jeweiligen Platz.
